Title: Ishq Ki Baatein
Artist: Lata Mangeshkar (No Official Site)

This track is so chill, it's amazing.  I absolutely love it and frequently put it on repeat.  The voice is melodic, the lyrics are beautiful [they're a "ghazal" which is the Urdu/Hindi word for a short poem].  I like to listen to it when I'm going to go to sleep, because it's one of those lullaby types, almost.

I think anyone could like this as it's very musically sound, however, if you understand the lyrics, it's that much better.  =)

The translations are my own as I scoured the internet yet turned up with no translated lyrics whatsoever.  How disappointing.  And this is from her 2007 album, too!  ><

This is her first album after a hiatus of 17 years!  Most of the songs were written by Javed Akhtar.

"Paas gaye tho vo ansoo ki lariya thi-
Dhoor se tharoun ki baraatein lag thi hein."

"Coming closer, I can see that they are tear streaks-
From far away they seem like a procession of stars."

Bonjour!

Title: Là-Bas
Artist: Jean-Jacques Goldman (Site)

This song is rooted forever in my mind with a string of particular memories.  Does anyone else ever do that?  Associate certain songs with certain moments in their lives?  Those usually end up being the most well-remembered tunes.

In any case, this man is a brilliant singer.  Absolutely brilliant.  His songs are so poetic and powerful, just like his voice.  And yes, he sings in French.

This particular song is about someone who wants to leave, to travel to another place, where things are new and he can expand his horizons.  The woman who chimes in is asking him not to, that such a place is filled with heartbreak and that he should stay safely by her side.  It's really quite riveting.  =)

One qualm I do have with this tune is about halfway through when it gets, er, louder, and more emotional, I think musically speaking, that part kills the flow of the song.  The lyrics themselves are powerful, but I think the song should've been kept a uniformly quiet sort of affair.

I've translated to the best of my French-speaking knowledge, while trying to retain the authentic flavor of Goldman's lyrics.  =)

"Je te perdrai peut-être là-bas,
Mais je me perds si je reste là.
La vie ne m'a pas laissé le choix-
Toi et moi, ce sera là-bas ou pas."

"I might lose you if I go there,
But I'll lose myself if I stay here.
Life hasn't given me a choice-
You and me, it's there or nowhere."

Enya Love

Title: Long Long Journey
Artist: Enya (Official Site)

What can I say, it's Enya!  The lyrics of this one are pretty serene and uplifting, as well...it's so calming.  I would recommend this to almost everyone, especially if you're kinda stressed, or worked up or just need to mellow out.  =)

And really, you can't go wrong with Enya.

"Where the road runs through the valley
Where the river flows
I will follow every highway
To the place I know."

What's In A Name?

Title: Name
Artist: Goo Goo Dolls (Official Site)

First song on EE, w00t! ^__^ I'm a real sucker for awesome lyrics, and it doesn't get much better than the Goo Goo Dolls.  This song is just so mellow, and chill...I love it.  In fact, it's on repeat in my iTunes right now.  =P  Anyhow, even if you think Goo Goo Dolls "aren't your thing" I still think you should give this song a try, it might surprise you, who knows?

"You grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe.
And reruns all become our history."
